Bulgaria took part in the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Nagano with a delegation of 19 athletes in six disciplines in part, eight men and eleven women. The only medal win went to the biathlete Ekaterina Dafowska , who became Olympic champion in the individual race.

The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the ski racer Lyubomir Popov .
