Bulgaria took part in the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens , Greece with gymnast Charles Champaud. Bulgaria is one of the nations that participated in the first Summer Olympics. Champaud, a Swiss gymnastics teacher who lived in Sofia, is also often counted on the Swiss Olympic team.
