Bulgaria took part in the 1952 Summer Olympics in the Finnish capital Helsinki with 63 athletes, 9 women and 54 men, in 34 competitions in eight sports.

Since 1896 it was the fifth participation of a Bulgarian team in the Summer Olympics .

The youngest athlete was the gymnast Ivanka Dolzheva (16 years and 317 days), the oldest athlete was the marksman Khristo Shopov (40 years and 196 days).

Flag bearer

Boxer Boris Nikolov carried the flag of Bulgaria during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .
