The British crown colony Gold Coast took part in the 1952 Summer Olympics in the Finnish capital Helsinki with seven male athletes.
The Ghana Olympic Committee was founded in 1952 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee that same year . For the first and last time, athletes flying the Gold Coast flag took part in the Olympic Games, as eight years later the independent state of Ghana took part in the 1960 Summer Games in Rome instead of the Crown Colony .
Participants by sport
Only the high jumper James Owoo could reach the final of a competition; two sprinters, a middle-distance runner and a three-jumper each and a relay team were eliminated in the preliminary run and qualification.
