The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) is the National Olympic Committee (NOK) of the Republic of Ghana . The GOC is based on Castle Road in the Ghanaian capital Accra. The President of the GOC is Francis Dodoo . The GOC is a member of the African NOK association, ANOCA .

history

The GOC was founded in 1952 as the Gold Coast Olympics Committee and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Olympic history of Ghana began with the participation in the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki - still as the British Crown Colony of Gold Coast . The country took part in the Summer Olympics regularly from 1960. Only in 1976 and 1980 were the calls for boycotts accepted. In 2010 a delegation was sent to the Winter Games for the first time.

The greatest success for the GOC was the silver medal of the light welterweight boxer Ike Quartey at the 1960 Summer Games in Rome.
