The Olympic Committee of Uganda ( Uganda Olympic Committee , UOC) is the National Olympic Committee of Uganda . It represents and organizes the country's Olympic movement. The committee was established in 1953 so that Uganda could take part in the British Empire Games, now the Commonwealth Games . A short time later, his goals were expanded to include participation in the Olympic Games . RN Posnett, the first president of the committee, applied for admission to the International Olympic Committee on January 3, 1955 , which was complied with in January 1956. It is based in Kampala .
The President of the UOC is Major General William Frederick Blick , while Gabriel WJ Oloka is General Secretary . Other executive members include Beatrice Ayikoru and Andrew Jackson Oryada .
Uganda has participated in the Olympic Games twelve times since 1956. Only the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montréal were boycotted, like many other African teams, in protest against the sporting contacts New Zealand had established with the apartheid regime of South Africa . Uganda has not yet participated in the Olympic Winter Games.
