Hong Kong , then still a British Crown Colony , took part in the Summer Olympics for the first timein the Finnish capital Helsinki in 1952 .

The youngest participant was Cynthia Eager , 15 years and 245 days. Francisco Monteiro was the oldest athlete from Hong Kong at 26 years and 179 days.
