Austria took part in the 1952 Summer Olympics in the Finnish capital Helsinki with 112athletes, 21 women and 91 men, nominatedby the Austrian Olympic Committee , in 70 competitions in 16 sports.

Since 1896 it was the eleventh participation of an Austrian team in the Summer Olympic Games .

The youngest participant was the 17-year-old gymnast Hedwig Traindl , the oldest participant the 44-year-old fencer Fritzi Wenisch-Filz .

Flag bearer

The gymnast Willi Welt carried the Austrian flag during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .

Medals

With one gained silver and bronze medals, the Austrian team was ranked 32 in the medal count .
