Nordic combination Nordic skiing

(Cross-country skiing, jumping, Nordic combined)

Austria's representatives in Nordic skiing were the Paumgarten brothers from Graz, Heinz Hinterauer from Salzburg and Harald Bosio from the State Ski Association for Vienna and Lower Austria. However, the Olympic Games were not a good star for Austria's Nordic athletes. Hinterauer was unable to take part in the competition due to an angina, and Styrian Fridtjof Paumgarten broke his thigh in a fall while training for jumping. In the cross-country competition, Harald Bosio suffered a ski break and had to give up while lying in the race. In jumping he came in at least 29th place with widths of 51 and 52 meters. Only Harald Paumgarten was spared from injuries and mishaps, but could not implement his previously good form in the competitions.
