The trip to the Olympic Games in Lake Placid raised the ÖSV's biggest financial concerns. Gregor Höll and Harald Bosio were only able to participate in donations from Austrians abroad. In the USA, Harald Paumgarten strengthened the team. As was the case four years ago in St. Moritz, adverse circumstances prevented the Austrians from getting good results in Lake Placid.
