Austria took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with 72 athletes, 56 men and 16 women, in 15 sports.

Since 1896 it was Austria's 22nd participation in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

The sailor Hubert Raudaschl carried the flag of Austria during the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996 in the Centennial Olympic Stadium .

With a won silver and two bronze, the Austrian team was ranked 57 in the medal count .
