Bolivia took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics for the ninth time in the Summer Olympics. The team consisted of eight athletes, six of whom were men and two women. They started in nine competitions in five sports. The youngest participant was the swimmer Ximena Escalera at 16 years and 199 days, the oldest was the athlete Policarpio Calizaya at 33 years and 329 days. The Bolivian flag was carried into the Olympic Stadium by Policarpio Calizaya during the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996.
