The Cayman Islands participated in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta for the fifth time in the Summer Olympic Games . The team consisted of nine athletes, eight men and one woman. They started in seven competitions in three sports. The youngest participant was the athlete Cydonie Mothersill at 18 years and 130 days, the oldest was the sailor Mark Clark at 45 years and 295 days. During the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996, Carson Ebanks , who also started sailing, carried the flag of the Cayman Islands into the Olympic Stadium.
