Estonia took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with 43 athletes, 8 women and 35 men, in 36 competitions in 13 sports.

It was Estonia's seventh participation in the Summer Olympics since 1920 .

The rower Jueri Jaanson carried the flag of Estonia during the opening ceremony on July 19th at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .
