Rwanda participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the fourth time in the Summer Olympics. The team consisted of four male athletes who competed in four athletics competitions. The youngest participant was Alexis Sharangabo at 17 years and 263 days, the oldest was Mathias Ntawulikura at 32 years and 13 days. During the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996, the flag of Rwanda was carried into the Olympic Stadiumby Parfait Ntukamyagwe .
