The Central African Republic participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the fifth time in the Summer Olympics. The team consisted of five participants, three of whom were men and two women. They started in five competitions in athletics. The youngest participant was Ernest Ndjissipou at 23 years and 315 days, the oldest was Denise Ouabangui at 28 years and 49 days. At the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996, Mickaël Conjungo carried the flag of the Central African Republic into the Olympic Stadium.
