Latvia took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with 47 athletes, 13 women and 34 men, in 43 competitions in twelve sports.

Since 1924 it was the sixth participation of Latvia in the Summer Olympic Games .

Flag bearer

The athlete Einārs Tupurītis carried the flag of Latvia during the opening ceremony on July 19 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .

Medalist

With a silver medal won the Latvian team was ranked 61 in the medal count .
