Arvis Piziks
Arvis Piziks (born September 12, 1969 in Gulbene ) is a former Latvian road cyclist .
Athletic career
Arvis Piziks started in 1992 at the Olympic Summer Games in Barcelona in the road race, where he finished eighth. In that year he also won one of the most important French races for amateurs with Paris-Tours . In 1995 he became a professional with the Dutch cycling team Novell , which rode under the name Rabobank from 1996. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta , he was 18th in the road race. In 1998 Piziks moved to the Danish team Home-Jack & Jones , the later team CSC. In 2000 he started the Tour de France for the first time and achieved four top ten placements there. At the Olympic Games in Sydney , he was 22nd in the road race. In 2002 he was back in the Tour de France and finished ninth on two sections. At the end of the 2003 season, Piziks ended his career.
