Latvia took part in the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, with 23 athletes (19 men and 4 women) in six sports. The Latvian team remained without a medal.

Due to the collapse of the Soviet Union , Latvia was able to provide its own Olympic team for the first time since 1936. The flag bearer was the former bobsledder Jānis Ķipurs . In 1988 he won a gold medal for the Soviet Union - albeit in a bob in the Latvian national colors.
