Aivars Bogdanovs (born February 27, 1965 in Cēsis ) is a former Latvian biathlete .

Aivars Bogdanovs lives in Riga and works as a firefighter. He started for CPSK Olympic and started biathlon in 1980. Bogdanovs belonged to a generation of Latvian biathletes who had little chance of international engagements before the separation from the Soviet Union , but after the separation, with runners such as Ilmārs Bricis , Oļegs Maļuhins and Gundars Upenieks, belonged to the first generation of Latvian biathletes to compete internationally Appearance. With these three he also started at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville and 1994 in Lillehammer . In Albertville he reached ranks 40 in the sprint and 62 in the individual, in Lillehammer he was 66th in the sprint. With the three runners mentioned, he was also 16th in the relay races in both games. In between, he took part in the Biathlon World Championships in 1993 in Borovets and was 36th in the sprint, 64th of the individual and ran in the relay race with Maļuhins, Jēkabs Nākums and Upenieks as the final runners in 18th place. After the games in Lillehammer, it was not until 1997 in Osrblie that Bogdanovs could again take part in the biathlon world championships and was 69th of the individual. The last major event was the 1998 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Osrblie. Here the Latvian finished 22nd in the sprint, 28th in the pursuit and sixth with Maļuhins, Upenieks and Bricis. Until 1998 Bogdanovs also took part regularly in races of the Biathlon World Cup. The best result was a 47th place in a sprint in Östersund , which he achieved in the 1992/93 season. After his active career, he began to work in an official capacity for the Latvian Association.
