Malta took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with seven athletes, three women and four men, in seven competitions in five sports.

Since 1928 it was the eleventh participation of Malta in the Summer Olympic Games .

Flag bearer

Swimmer Angela Galea carried the flag of Malta during the opening ceremony on July 19 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .
