The Iraq took at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the ninth time at Summer Olympics in part. The team consisted of three athletes, all of whom were male. They competed in three competitions in three sports. The youngest participant was the weightlifter Raed Ahmed at 29 years and 54 days, the oldest was the shooter Hassan Hassan at 33 years and 134 days. During the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996, Ahmed carried the flag of Iraq into the Olympic Stadium.
