Dominica took at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the first time at the Olympic Games in part. The team consisted of six athletes, four of whom were men and two women. They competed in six competitions in two sports. The youngest participant was the athlete Dawn Williams with 22 years and 216 days, the oldest was Hermin Joseph with 32 years and 6 days, who also started in the athletics. At the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996, Jerome Romain carried the country's flag into the Olympic Stadium.
