Liberia took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with five athletes, one woman and four men, in three competitions in one sport.
Since 1956 it was Liberia's eighth participation in the Summer Olympics .
Flag bearer
Track and field athlete Kouty Mawenh carried the Liberian flag during the opening ceremony on July 19 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .
