The Maldives were represented at the Olympic Games for the third time with their participation in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta . The first participation was in 1988; no medals have been won yet. Six Maldivians between the ages of 18 and 26, including one woman, competed in swimming and athletics . All participants were eliminated in the preliminary round.
