After not participating in the 1992 Olympics, Afghanistan took part in the XXVI. 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta for the tenth time participated in the Summer Olympics. The delegation consisted of three athletes. At the opening ceremony, the boxer Mohammad Jawid Aman was the flag bearer of the country.
