Costa Rica took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics for the tenth time in the Summer Olympics. The team consisted of eleven athletes, six of whom were men and five were women. They started in 13 competitions in six sports.

Flag bearer

The judoka Henry Nuñez carried the Flag of Costa Rica during the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 in Centennial Olympic Stadium .

With a gold medal won, the Costa Rica team finished 49th in the medal table .
