Burkina Faso took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with five athletes, two women and three men, in five competitions in two sports.

It was Burkina Faso's third participation in the Summer Olympics since 1988 .

Flag bearer

Track and field athlete Franck Zio carried the flag of Burkina Faso during the opening ceremony on July 19 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .
