Jordan took in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta for the fifth time at Summer Olympics in part. The team consisted of five athletes, three of whom were male and two were female. They competed in five competitions in three sports. The youngest participant was the swimmer Mira Ghniem with 13 years and 68 days, the oldest was the athlete Fakhredin Fouad Al-Dien Gor with 28 years and 293 days. During the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996, Walid Al-Awazem carried the flag of Jordan into the Olympic Stadium.
