Bangladesh took part in the Summer Olympics for the fourth time at the 1996 Summer Olympics. The team consisted of four athletes, three men and one woman. They started in four competitions in three sports. The youngest participant was the athlete Nilufar Yasmin at 21 years and 32 days, the oldest was the shooter Saiful Alam at 27 years and 268 days. The flag of Bangladesh was carried into the Olympic Stadium by Saiful Alam during the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996.
