Cydonie Mothersille ( Cydonie Camille Mothersille-Modibo, also written Mothersill ; born March 19, 1978 in Kingston ) is a former sprinter of Jamaican origin who competed internationally for the Cayman Islands .
She celebrated the greatest success of her career so far by winning the bronze medal in the 200-meter run at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton. Although she only reached the goal in 22.88 s in fifth place, she moved up two places in the ranking when the winner Marion Jones and the third Kelli White were later disqualified for doping . In addition, Mothersille was second over 200 m at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003 .
At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 and in Osaka in 2007 , she finished eighth in the 200-meter run. In contrast, she was eliminated from the semifinals of the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.
She took part in the Olympic Games three times. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, she competed in the 100-meter run and in the 200-meter run, but was eliminated in the first round. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens she reached the semi-finals over 200 m, at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing she moved into the final and was eighth.
Mothersille won the gold medal in the 200-meter run at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
Cydonie Mothersille is 1.68 m tall and weighs 57 kg. She studied English at Clemson University in South Carolina and is married to Ato Modibo , a Trinidad and Tobago athlete .
