Peter "Paco" Wrolich (born May 30, 1974 in Klagenfurt ) is a former Austrian cyclist .

Athletic career

Peter Wrolich has been cycling since 1988 and was Austrian champion in all junior classes. After he turned pro in 1999, he drove in the Gerolsteiner team . After Team Gerolsteiner was dissolved, Wrolich drove for Team Milram in the 2009 season .

In 2001 Peter Wrolich won the Australian Herald Sun Tour , in 2002 around Cologne and in 2004 around the Hainleite . In 1996 and 2000 Wrolich started in road races at the Olympic Games. He started five times in the Tour de France , but never made it into the top hundred. At the Tour de France 2009 , Wrolich had to give up prematurely because of a gastrointestinal virus and thus ended the tour before the 13th stage from Vittel to Colmar. In November 2010 he announced his retirement from professional cycling.

Private

Wrolich is a member of the Slovenian-speaking ethnic group of Carinthia . He grew up in Latschach am Faaker See (municipality of Finkenstein am Faaker See ) and graduated from the BG / BRG for Slovenes (ZG / ZRG za Slovence v Celovcu) in Klagenfurt in 1991 . He was then a member of the Army Sports and Close Combat School in Vienna for five years. Wrolich runs its own specialty restaurant called Taverna “Paco” in Latschach in Carinthia. He also runs a cycling camp for amateurs and hobby cyclists. (Stand 2013)
