Hannes Fuchs

Hannes Fuchs (born March 9, 1972 in Linz ) is one of the most successful Austrian badminton players to date .

Athletic career

Fuchs won his first title at the national junior championships in 1986. Three more junior titles followed until 1989. In 1990 he won the men's doubles for the first time with Jürgen Koch . In total, he won three national singles and two doubles titles in his career. From 1990 to 1997 he was a professional badminton player and world number one. He won several world ranking tournaments. For example, in 1993 in Moscow he won the Grand Prix tournament of the Russian Open and the EBU Circuit overall ranking. His highest ranking in the badminton world rankings was 14th in 1992 and 1996 he qualified for the Olympic Games. In the singles he was eliminated in round two in 1992 and was 17th in the doubles with Jürgen Koch he reached the same place. In 1996 he only started in singles and was 17 again.
