Elmar Lichtenegger (born May 25, 1974 in Klagenfurt ) is a former Austrian hurdler and member of the Austrian National Council for the FPÖ and the BZÖ .

Life

In 1992 Lichtenegger graduated from the Alpen Adria Gymnasium in Völkermarkt and began studying computer science and media communication . Until 2004 he was a competitive athlete in the Army Sports Center.

From March 2003 to February 2005 and from January 25, 2006 he was a member of the National Council for the FPÖ and from April 28, 2006 to October 29, 2006 for the BZÖ. In the National Council he was active in the sports, national defense and health committees. In September 2005 he took over the event marketing division of the Austrian Athletics Association .

In 2017 he completed the university course Business Manager at M / O / T at the University of Klagenfurt with the title MSc.

Today he works as a manager at an IT service provider.

Olympic Games 1996

In 1995 Lichtenegger provided the qualification standards for the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 and he started over 110 meter hurdles , where he finished 47th.
At the end of 1996 Lichtenegger moved to Berlin , where he trained with the German national team under Uwe Hakus . In 1998 he received the offer to train with the world record holder Colin Jackson in England. There was a training partnership with the Welshman for four years.

At the 2001 World Indoor Athletics Championships , he was sixth over 60 m hurdles.

The multiple Austrian champion trained by his father Ewald Lichtenegger competed for the Dr. Auer AC Völkermarkt . At the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002 , he won the silver medal over 60 m hurdles.

2003 doping ban

Lichtenegger served a 15-month suspension in 2003/04 because of a positive doping test for nandrolone . He himself blames contaminated dietary supplements. A two-year ban imposed by the World Athletics Federation (IAAF) was reduced by a ruling by the CAS International Court of Justice in Lausanne. After another conviction as a doping sinner, on November 22, 2007 he had been tested again for nandrolone, he announced his retirement from the sport on December 13, 2007.

Lifelong doping ban 2008

In August 2008, the Austrian Athletics Association (ÖLV) imposed a lifelong ban on him from all national and international competitions as well as all sports for violating the anti-doping regulations due to the recurrence. Although he had ended his career in 2007, Lichtenegger called the Independent Arbitration Commission about suspected irregularities in the controls. The commission confirmed the life-long doping ban in November 2008.
