Hubert Raudaschl (born August 26, 1942 in Sankt Gilgen ) is a successful Austrian sailor and an honorary citizen of his home community.

Career

Raudaschl has been practicing sailing competitively since 1950. From 1960 to 1996 he took part in ten Olympic Games in various boat classes. Until 2012, he was the only athlete in the world who had participated in ten Olympics. However, he was only a substitute at the 1960 Games and did not take part in the competitions. Thus, he is on the list of athletes with the most Olympic participations with only nine participations, the Canadian rider Ian Millar brought it to ten participations .

His greatest successes were the silver medal at the Olympic Games in 1968 in the Finn and 1980 in the Starboot as well as the world championship titles in 1964 ( Finn ) and 1978 ( Minitonner ).

Today Hubert Raudaschl is an internationally known manufacturer of sails and boat designer. He is also an honorary member of the Austrian Sailing Association. His brother Walter , with whom he took part in the 1976 Olympic Games, was also a sailor . Hubert's son Florian sailed in the Finn dinghy at the 2012 Olympic Games .
