history

The federal state was formed when the administrative structure of Sudan was reorganized on February 14, 1994, when the state of Kurdufan was divided into the three new states of Dschanub Kurdufan , Shamal Kurdufan and Gharb Kurdufan. As a result of the peace agreement of 2005 , which ended the civil war , the state - which also included the Abyei area, which was disputed between North and South Sudan - was dissolved. Its territory was divided between Shamal Kurdufan and Dschanub Kurdufan. In 2013 Gharb Kurdufan was rebuilt.
