Josef Göbl

Josef Artur "Sepp" Göbl (born January 1, 1905 in Vienna ; † 1971 there ) was an Austrian ice hockey player and referee . He was a member of the Austrian national ice hockey team and played at club level with the Wiener Eislauf-Verein (WEV) and EK Engelmann Vienna (EKE).

In addition to his studies, Josef Göbl was closely associated with Austrian ice hockey and its development from 1926 onwards. Numerous successes with the WEV, EKE and the national team determined his life. He was a participant in the 1928 Olympic Games in St. Moritz , where his team was eliminated without defeat in the preliminary round after two draws, to which he contributed two goals in a 4: 4 against Switzerland. In his second participation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1936 , he and his team came in seventh. In 1937 he became manager of the Hague ice rink (Houtrusthallen). In the early 1940s he was the trainer of the Mannheim ERC . After his career as an ice hockey player and referee, he worked as a businessman in Vienna (sporting goods with general agency for Fred Perry and Slazenger tennis articles). At the same time he worked as a successful tennis player for the Vienna AC .

Göbl was buried in the cemetery of the Simmering fire hall (department 3, ring 3, group 6, number 40).
