Hans Tatzer

Johann Robert "Hans" Tatzer , (born May 25, 1905 in Vienna , † August 23, 1944 in Marseille ) was an Austrian ice hockey player . He was a member of the Austrian national ice hockey team , Viennese national teams and guest players at other ice hockey clubs.

Career

Hans Tatzer worked as a painter's assistant and later as a post office worker. On April 26, 1941, he married Hermine M., who was born in Vienna on October 15, 1921. His son was born on June 18, 1942 and died in April 1944 at the age of three. In April 1942, Hans Tatzer was drafted into the Wehrmacht and later assigned to the field gendarmerie. He died on August 23, 1944 in the fighting in Marseille and was first buried in Marseille, St. Pierre cemetery and later reburied in the Dagneux military cemetery.

ice Hockey

Until the 1925/26 season, Hans Tatzer played for the Austrian teachers' sports association in Vienna. In autumn he joined the Pötzleinsdorfer SK and stayed there until the end of the 1929/1930 season. Then Hans Tatzer switched to the Vienna Police Sports Association , where he was the player-coach of the ice hockey section. For the 1931/32 season, Hans Tatzer moved back to Pötzleinsdorfer SK, which was renamed the Engelmann Ice Hockey Club after winning the Austrian ice hockey championship in 1932.

Hans Tatzer was a guest player at numerous ice hockey games in other clubs. His greatest commitment was the trip of the Vienna Ice Skating Association to South Africa in 1937, which took place from May 19, 1937 to August 2, 1937. The reason for the trip was the opening of the Ice Palace in Johannesburg . The club played 8 ice hockey games against South Africa, national teams and local ice hockey clubs.

Handball

In 1933 and 1934 Hans Tatzer played in the handball department of the Vienna Police Sports Association. He played here in the 1st team of PSV. In 1934 he also worked in the Austrian national handball team.

Soccer

In football , Hans Tatzer was active at Viktoria Währing . In order to keep fit for the ice hockey game in summer, various soccer games were held below the club level. Hans Tatzer was on the team of the innkeeper Weinwurm "Zum lustigen Kondukteur" or at games like Schafbergbad versus Kongressbad.

Field hockey

Many ice hockey players of the 1920s and 30s were active in field hockey in the summer months. Hans Tatzer played for the Kritzendorfer .

Achievements and Awards

As the only player in Austrian ice hockey, Hans Tatzer received the international badge of the Austrian ice hockey association eleven times for participation in international games in 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937 Due to the annexation of Austria and the associated dissolution of the association, the award was no longer made in 1938.
