Bojan Kozew

Bojan Kozew ( Bulgarian Боян Коцев ; born April 20, 1930 in Vrazhdebna, Bulgaria ) is a former Bulgarian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Kozew is one of the most successful Bulgarian road cyclists . In 1958 he won the Bulgarian road racing championship . At the multi-country stage race Peace Race he participated from 1951 to 1959 seven times. On his debut in 1951 he was 27. He was then the best Bulgarian in three peace trips. In 1953 he celebrated his only stage win, and in the 1958 Tour he achieved his best result with fourth place. In 1958, 1959 and 1960 Kozew won the Tour of Bulgaria , and between 1955 and 1958 he was on the podium three times in the Tour of Egypt with two second places and one third place in the final ranking.

Kozew twice took part in the cycling competitions of the Olympic Games . In 1952 he was used in road races both in individual competition and in team races. He and his team were eliminated in both disciplines. Kozew also took part with the Bulgarian team of four in the 4000 m pursuit race on the track, in which the Bulgarians reached 16th place. In 1960 Kozew started again in the road individual and in the team time trial . As a single driver, he retired prematurely. In the 100 km time trial he and his team reached 17th place out of 32 teams that had started.
