Romania took part in the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Nagano with a delegation of 16 athletes in six disciplines in part, twelve men and four women. None of the athletes managed to win a medal.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the speed skater Mihaela Dascălu .
