Romania took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, with a delegation of eleven athletes in four disciplines, five of them men and six women. None of the athletes managed to win a medal.

The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the bobsledder Costel Petrariu .
