Sweden took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, with a delegation of 68 athletes in nine disciplines, including 55 men and 13 women. With four gold and two bronze medals, Sweden was the fifth most successful nation at the Games.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was cross-country skier Thomas Wassberg .
