Thomas Rundqvist (born May 4, 1960 in Vimmerby ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player , and now head of sport at Färjestad BK .

Career

Rundqvist started his career in 1978 at Färjestad BK in Sweden. During his successful time there until 1993, he was on the ice in 494 national games (173 goals / 441 points) and won the Swedish championship three times (1981, 1986 and 1988). In the 1983 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the 10th round in 198th place by the Montreal Canadiens . He then went to the NHL for one season , but only got two missions there. In 1991 he was awarded the guldpucken of the Elitserien .

Internationally, he took part in eight ice hockey world championships with the Swedish national ice hockey team and won two gold and three silver medals. He took part in the Olympic Games three times with the "Tre Kronor" and won two bronze medals here ( 1984 and 1988 ). When he ended his international career, he had made 267 international appearances.

He ended his playing career at VEU Feldkirch in Austria, with whom he won the championship title in each of his five years there (1993 to 1998) and also in 1998 the European Hockey League .

In 2007 he was honored with induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame .
