Sweden took part in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo with a delegation of 94 athletes (76 men and 18 women) in 72 competitions in 13 sports.

The Swedish athletes won two gold, two silver and four bronze medals. In the medal table of the games, Sweden placed 17th. Olympic champions were the canoeists Rolf Peterson in a single kayak over 1000 meters and Sven-Olov Sjödelius and Gunnar Utterberg in a two- person kayak over 1000 meters. The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the rider William Hamilton .
