The Turkey participated in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in part with a delegation of 23 male athletes in 24 competitions in four sports.

The Turkish athletes won two gold and three silver medals as well as one bronze medal. As four years earlier, all medals were won in wrestling. Olympic champions were İsmail Ogan (welterweight) and Kâzım Ayvaz (lightweight) in Greco-Roman style, silver won Hüseyin Akbaş (bantamweight), Hasan Güngör (middleweight) and Ahmet Ayık (light heavyweight) in freestyle. The bronze medal went to Hamit Kaplan (heavyweight) in freestyle. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Çetin Şahiner .
