The Turkey participated in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a delegation of 58 athletes (57 men and one woman) to 42 competitions in seven sports part.

The Turkish athletes won six gold, four silver and two bronze medals. With the exception of the bronze medal in the triple jump for Ruhi Sarıalp , all medals were won in wrestling. In the medal table of the games, Turkey placed seventh. Olympic champions were Mehmet Oktav (featherweight) and Ahmet Kireççi (heavyweight) in Greco-Roman style as well as Nasuh Akar (bantamweight), Gazanfer Bilge (featherweight), Celal Atik (lightweight) and Yaşar Doğu (welterweight) in freestyle.
