The Czechoslovakia took part in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a delegation of 87 athletes (73 men and 14 women) in 57 competitions in eleven contests.

The Czechoslovak athletes won six gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Olympic champions were the athlete Emil Zátopek over 10,000 meters, the boxer Július Torma in the welterweight division, the canoeists Josef Holeček in the single canoe over 1000 meters, František Čapek in the single canoe over 10,000 meters as well as Jan Brzák-Felix and Bohumil Kudrna in the two-person canoe over 1000 meters and the women's team of gymnasts in the team all-around competition. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the basketball player Ladislav Trpkoš .
