The Czechoslovakia took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Australia Melbourne with a delegation of 63 athletes, 51 men and twelve women at 54 competitions in ten sports part.

It was the eighth participation of Czechoslovakia in the Summer Olympics .

The youngest athlete was the swimmer Marta Skupilová (18 years and 251 days), the oldest athlete was the marksman František Čapek (42 years and 18 days). The standard bearer was the gymnast Zdeněk Růžička .

Medals

With one gold, four silver and one bronze medal, the Czechoslovak team finished 18th in the medal table .
