Eva Bosáková

Eva Bosáková-Hlaváčková (born December 18, 1931 in Mladá Boleslav as Eva Vechtová , † November 10, 1991 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak artistic gymnast who won medals at three Olympic Games.

Career

In 1952 she entered the Olympic Games in Helsinki under her maiden name. As the best gymnast in her team, she reached 14th place in the all-around competition and won the bronze medal with the team. In the group gymnastics with individual devices, she was sixth with the team. At the World Gymnastics Championships in Rome in 1954 , she won the bronze medal again with the team. In the all- around competition she won silver behind Galina Rud'ko from the Soviet Union. She also received silver on the floor behind Tamara Manina and on the balance beam behind Keiko Tanaka .

After her marriage, she started as Eva Bosáková in 1956. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , she was seventh in the all-round competition and fifth with the team. In addition, she was placed in three equipment decisions, on the floor and fourth on the uneven bars. On the balance beam, she won silver, tied with Tamara Manina, behind Hungarian Ágnes Keleti . In group gymnastics, she and the team finished 7th. In 1958 at the World Gymnastics Championships in Moscow , she was second in the all- around and on the uneven bars behind Larissa Latynina . On the ground, however, she won gold ahead of Latynina. With the team she finished second behind the Soviet squad.

At the gymnastics competitions of the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , she finished tenth in the all-round competition and for the first time was only the second best gymnast in her team behind the young Věra Čáslavská . In the team standings, the Czechoslovakians won silver behind the Soviet team. Bosáková reached the individual finals on the floor and on the balance beam. She finished fourth on the floor and won gold on the balance beam ahead of Larissa Latynina. In 1962 the world championship took place in Prague . The team was again second behind the Soviet team. Bosáková was world champion on the balance beam ahead of Latynina, on the uneven bars she was second behind Irina Perwuschina . Eva Bosáková won the national championship title in all-around competitions seven times between 1952 and 1962. She won 31 other championship titles on the devices. After her second marriage, her name was Eva Hlaváčková.
