Nina Antonovna Botscharowa ( Russian: Нина Антоновна Бочарова ; born September 24, 1924 in Supruniwka , Poltava Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Soviet gymnast. She joined the Stroitel Kiev club and made her national debut in 1948. The high point of her career was in the early 1950s. At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , she won two gold and three silver medals. She was able to repeat the all-round victory with the team at the world championships in apparatus gymnastics in Rome two years later . After the tournament, she ended her active sports career after only six years.
When the Olympic torch relay for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens ran through the Ukraine , Botscharova was one of the many torchbearers there. In May 2015 she became an honorary citizen of the city of Kiev.
